Rental Cabins FAQ

Q.

How are the cabins delivered?

A.
The cabins are towed with our 4 x 4 vehicles using the required safety equipment for over-dimension loads. We need unobstructed access to get the cabin on to your site. We are unable to deliver a cabin using a neighbour’s property for insurance compliance.
Q.

Can you build the cabin on our site?

A.
No, the cabins are built in our factory and delivered to your site.
Q.

Can we pick up the cabin ourselves?

A.
No, moving the cabins is a job for our specialist drivers and equipment to tow over-dimension loads. The cabins are not insured for hirers to move them themselves.
Q.

Does the cabin stay on the trailer?

A.
Yes. The cabin is built on the trailer/chassis.
Q.

Do we need a consent for the cabin?

A.
No, our cabins are similar to a caravan and can be used as temporary accommodation. However, resource consent may be required if parked too close to a boundary.
Q.

What are the toilet options?

A.
We have 2 options depending on your individual circumstances:
  • Chemical toilet with a holding tank. The tank is emptied down a toilet or sewage drain by the hirer.
  • Standard flush toilet with a pump system. It uses a temporary hose connection to a gully trap. The delivery team is unable to connect directly into a septic tank. There is an additional weekly charge for flush toilets. We supply 25m of pipe. Pumps can pump up to a maximum elevation of 5m.
Q.

Where does the grey water go if I do not hire a flush toilet?

A.
The water can go into a bucket, external portable tank or a soak hole.
Q.

How is the power connected?

A.
We supply a 15m caravan lead and interface box which is plugged into a builder’s pole or a 3-pin plug at the house.  All cabins have an electrical warrant of fitness. 16 amps is possible if connected to a caravan supply or 16 amp circuit at the house. Otherwise the supply is limited to 10 amps using the interface box and ordinary 3-pin power point.
Q.

Can we use a generator?

A.
A generator can be used if it is situated no less than 15m from the cabin.
Q.

How is the water heated?

A.
The water is heated by a gas califont.  You are required to supply two x 9 kg gas bottles.
Q.

How is the water connected?

A.
We supply a 15mm alkathene hose which is connected to an outside tap. There is a one off water hose hire fee of $5 per metre for the duration of the cabin hire. The use of typical garden hoses is illegal due to toxicity.
Tank water is fine so long as a pressure pump is used from the header tank instead of gravity feed. The minimum pressure required to run the cabin's gas califont (hot water pump) is 30kpa with a flow rate of 5 litres per minute.
Q.

Is a credit check required?

A.

Q.

How far off the boundary does the cabin need to be?
